What We Do
Welcome to Resources for Pastors! While our future plans involve serving pastors and churches in several areas including finances/stewardship, governance, and leadership development, our initial focus is on the provision of resources for the pastor’s preaching and teaching ministry.
Perhaps you have a strong call to pastoral ministry, but struggle with the process of preparing an effective, Bible-based sermon each week that moves your congregation towards maturity in Christ. Or maybe, like so many pastors (especially those in small and medium-sized churches), the demands of ministry make it challenging to find the time needed to develop effective expository sermons every week…while developing leaders, doing visitation, leading elders’ meetings, and an endless list of other tasks.
That’s where we come in! We provide preaching resources that help you manage your time more effectively. For every sermon on our site – whether stand-alone or part of a preaching series – we provide an outline, a full transcript ready for your edits, and a few key slides you can use with your church’s presentation software. Think of us as your Personal Research Assistant – breaking the passage down into a “preachable outline”, doing the reference work for you, and drafting a full transcript for you to work with in your sermon development process.

What Goes Into Our Sermon Preparation Process

Why Expository Sermons
One of the key features of Resources for Pastors is that we provide expository, verse-by-verse sermons. While there certainly is a place for topical preaching in the church today, we believe there is a long list of benefits to making expository preaching your main focus. Here are just a few of those benefits:
- It allows the preacher to explain a passage in its context, which is central to an accurate understanding of God’s Word
- It leads the pastor to cover “tough topics” when they are encountered in the verse-by-verse study, rather than avoid them (consciously or unconsciously)
- It allows the pastor to preach the “whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27) and not just preferred or favorite topics
- It exposes the congregation to all of Scripture, and encourages them to study Bible books along with the sermon series
- It guards against misinterpretation of Scripture
- “It liberates the preacher from the pressure of last-minute preparation on Saturday night.” (Alistair Begg)
- “It produces mature well-taught Christians.” (Merril F. Unger)
