Hi! My name is Doug Rempel
Thank you for visiting the Resources for Pastors website! I want to take a few minutes to introduce myself as you prayerfully consider whether our organization might be able to serve you in your preaching and pastoral ministry.
I’m a semi-retired bi-vocational pastor and educator living in northern Ontario, Canada with Carol, my wife of 35 years. For most of my life, I lived and worked (and preached!) in Saskatchewan in western Canada. In June of 2020, we made the decision to move east where a big draw for me was the outdoor paradise that encompasses the lakes, rivers, forests, and Laurentian mountains of our area. I love camping, kayaking, forest walks, and all things outdoors!
My theological and ministry training included completing a bachelors degree in theology from Canadian Bible College in Regina, Saskatchewan (now Ambrose University) and a masters degree in leadership from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. For much of my adult life, I have served as a lay, part-time, or full-time pastor in multiple evangelical denominations. I continue to preach regularly in the church that became our “home” here in eastern Canada. My primary spiritual gifts are in the areas of leadership, administration and communicating God’s Word through teaching and preaching. I also invest ministry time in mission work in Kenya, East Africa through weekly videoconference training and in-country missions trips.
I am also a licensed Canadian accountant (CPA), which led to the “bi-vocational” part of my story. After practicing as a public accountant early in my career, I spent about 23 years in higher education. I served as an accounting professor for a dozen years, and then moved into college administration as an associate dean and then dean of the business and IT schools at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in western Canada.

Why Resources for Pastors?
There are a couple main reasons. First, I’ve been a pastor – so I understand the unique demands and challenges of that calling. My heart’s desire is to give you back more time for other critical ministry responsibilities – and more family time as well! Second, I love the sermon research and writing process! I’d be honoured to be your “personal research assistant”, doing some initial study of the passage and theological resources, all the way up to a full draft transcript and outline. I’d then invite you to use these resources to transform my “first draft” into something uniquely yours that will provide the greatest impact for your church and God’s Kingdom.
